Helicopter Crashes In Los Angeles Causing Three Alarm Fire—Pilot Seriously Injured

March 13, 2011-According to Reports a helicopter crashed early Sunday Morning in Los Angeles seriously injuring the pilot. According to Mike Fergus of the Federal Aviation Administration the helicopter that crashed was lifting a heavy load at the Raytheon facility and was a helicopter was a Sikorsky. While lifting the load it struck the building of the Raytheon Company Space and Airborne Systems.

The helicopter burst into flames when it crashed according to witnesses, causing a three alarm fire. Fergus stated the pilot sustained serious injuries and people pulled the pilot from the chopper prior to it crashing. The pilot was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. There were no other injuries reported at the scene of the El Segundo helicopter crash.

According to authorities there are officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board expected to arrive at the scene of the crash to conduct an investigation.
